Gallegos Sanitation, Inc. Brings Waste and Recycling Workers Week to Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, COLO. —June 13, 2013 — Gallegos Sanitation, Inc. (GSI), a locally-owned and
family-operated waste and recycling management company servicing Northern Colorado, joined
customers and groups across the country in celebrating Waste and Recycling Workers Week, observed June
17, 2013.
The first observance of Waste and Recycling Workers Week began this year with efforts from John D.
Arwood, second generation garbage man and CEO of Arwood Waste in Jacksonville, Fl.
Understanding the importance of the message behind the observance caused GSI to bring National
Waste & Recycling Workers Week to Fort Collins, Colo. Mayor Karen Weitkunat read in the proclamation officially
announcing the observance of Waste and Recycling Workers Week by the City of Fort Collins on June 17,
2013 at GSI, 1941 Heath Pkwy in Fort Collins.
“We at Gallegos Sanitation wanted to recognize the commitment and dedication our people have
given to keep our community clean. Waste and Recycling Workers Week recognizes both the men and
women of our industry for the fine job that they do. Please join us in thanking these individuals for
all of their hard work,” said Art Gallegos of GSI.
The goal of Waste and Recycling Workers Week is to raise awareness of the importance of the waste
management industry and those who serve daily to make sure our nations communities remain
clean. Many other cities and organizations joined in the observance including the U.S.-based
Environmental Industry Associations (EIA). Fort Collins is the first city in Colorado to officially
proclaim June 17 as Waste and Recycling Workers Week.
